Running Musings - 091607

I ran a mile much faster than base speed. Pretty encouraging. I haven't run in about 7 or 8 days, and I just feel the future looks bright. The bungalow incentive may not be the best incentive since I can't afford a two week vaction in a bungalow. However, maybe when I run the marathon I will. Who knows. I'm just looking forward to decreasing my speed. Seeing life a different way. Pretty excited about it actually.

So, Brian Roberts of the Orioles has a chapter in the book Before the Glory. He mentioned how he was told before and after his heart surgery to take it easy, don't overdue it, and it was strangely freeing for me to read that. I thought maybe he never heard those words, and that is why he was able to reach All-Star status in baseball. Words like that never held him back. Now, I realize that we just reacted differently to them. Let's not deny the fact that I'm a voracious reader, and that may have something to do with my lack of athletic skill, but I always wanted to be stronger, and faster (like the bionic woman :)) and it wasn't natural. Now, of course, life is what it is, and I create what it is.
