I ran 2 miles, and it was 3 seconds slower than my fastest 2 miles. However, it felt MUCH better. Inside the work-out area was much cooler, and I ate a banana beforehand. All in all it was much better.
I prayed "Help me God" a few times throughout the run. Again, I see running, particularly a runner's high as a direct communication with God. I was brought up Catholic so it's hard to get the idea of God as a Charleton Heston look alike out of my head, but I mostly see God in the strength of the trees.
I knew I was being helped out because of the songs. Great songs! Frou Frou's Let Go, Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield, and Don Henley's Boys of Summer (close to my heart because it was the last song on my first 10-mile run. Guess what the last song was . . . GIVEN TO FLY!!!!!
I'll run a neutral paced 5k tomorrow, and then give myself 2 more chances to make a sub 20 minute 2 mile run. Then onward to October.
