Running Musings - 042307

Yea! I went running today. I accomplished my base mileage, but not my base speed. oh well, something to work on. Pearl Jam's Undone is a very good song to run to.

I wanted to run the half-marathon in Chicago in September, but I would have a hard time training for it. I can do the distance indoors, but in order to train for an outdoors run, I have to train outdoors. Just thinking of the heat, and I don't want to do it. Maybe there's a half-marathon near here, or maybe I'll do the Cherry Blossom run next year.

I've been reading a self-helpish book as to why I may have a wall in running. Over my life there are some things I was advised against doing, which made me think I couldn't do them. I remember distinctly my cardiologist saying if I tried for an Olympic marathon I would need to get pulled. However, I'm starting to think . . . well, how about the NY City Marathon within the next couple years :). I'm starting to think that I can do more things that I may be hesistant to do because I've been advised against it in the past in some way, but I took it as all ways. We'll see.
