Running Musings - 050207

Happy Anniversary Pearl Jam Advocado Blue!

I'm in San Antonio, TX for the annual convention of where I work. I was running this morning, and even though the machine is different than what I use at home, I didn't think it would be bad. Within 2 minutes I was sweating my brains out, and my moral plummeted. Not enough for me to cop-out and not do my base distance, mind you, as I'm committed to running a certain mileage this week. However, my speed was yucky. It's just a different machine, and for a little bit I was able to pick it up to my base speed. By the end of the week, I should be there. There were no highlights except during ARC. Just to make things clear. I was brought up with a religion, and I have beliefs. When I get a runner's high it's not just me getting this surging rush of joy, it is the closest that I can feel God as I define God. So, during ARC I'm always talking to God as I define God, and during any runner's high I'm always talking to God as I define God. It's not as fluffy as I've tried to describe it, it's really all out prayer.

Anyway, if you listen to Betterman while thinking of Shakespeare's MacBeth at the same time it makes sense:

Waiting
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow
watching the clock
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time
It's got to stop

The VP of Finance saw me in my sweating-my-brains-out glory, and quite frankly it is me in my glory even though I'm not a fast graceful runner. I'm no gazelle that's for sure. I've been called sultry or gorgeous in the past, but you really see the best of me when I'm sweating my brains out running :)
